WE HAVE BEEN FOOLED.
FOOLED LIKE THE HIGH SCHOOL GIRL, WHO FALLS FOR THE HOT-HEADED UPPER-CLASSMEN, WHO TALKS A BIG GAME, MAKES HER FEEL LIKE A GIFT FROM GOD. SHE IS FOOLED AS HE SHINES WITH GLISTENING GOLD HAIR AND DAZZLING MOVES ON THE FIELD. FOOLED WITH JUST A FEW WORDS, HE DIDN'T HAVE TO SAY MUCH, HE DIDN'T HAVE TO SAY MUCH AT ALL. "I LOVE YOU," HE WHISPERED....WAY TOO SOON, BUT SURELY, HE MEANT IT. SURELY....HE'S AS GOOD AS GOLD. FOOL'S GOLD. HOW COULD WE AMERICA? How come we didn't learn from our foolish high-school self? We knew deep in our heart Johnny was saying those three little words to at least three other girls, at the same time. And when he represents himself with shiny hair and vague promises, why can't we see through? Why can't we see the empty promises? It was as if he told us he loved us but never did a thing to show it. Except he didn't love us... He actually demeaned women. He told us those in the margins might as well go to hell. He doesn't want us to come closer, he wants to divide us. He wants a wall between us. He wants the immigrants out.... the same immigrants who created the foundations of our land. He hates us, America. He never loved us. He lied, with his empty, vague promises that always left doubt, curiosity and that sick feeling....what if he really doesn't mean it? But you fell for it again..... And he's your man now. In fact, he's spreading his sorry love all over the country.... no, the world. Thanks, America.
